The Lantern Room
Breathtaking panoramic views of Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters and the South Downs
At the very top of the lighthouse, the Lantern Room offers breathtaking panoramic views across Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters and the rolling South Downs. Reached by the lighthouse’s winding staircase, this remarkable space reveals uninterrupted 360-degree views of both land and sea, scenery widely regarded as some of the most dramatic and memorable in Britain.
It is here, high above the coastline, that guests truly experience the magic of Belle Tout.
Watch the sunrise slowly illuminate the cliffs and sea below, or settle in as evening falls and the sky transforms through layers of soft gold, amber and deep copper at sunset. Whether enjoying a quiet moment with a coffee in the morning or unwinding beneath the evening light, the Lantern Room offers an atmosphere of complete calm and escape.
Guests are welcome to relax with music; a CD player and small collection of CDs are provided, though many simply choose to enjoy the peaceful stillness and ever-changing coastal views. Cosy blankets are available for cooler evenings, creating the perfect setting to linger a little longer as daylight fades.
When weather permits, guests may also step outside onto the circular balcony surrounding the Lantern Room for an even more immersive experience, suspended between sea, sky and the sweeping Sussex coastline.
